This is an issue with Windows that has been fixed in Windows Vista and later.

Many of the additional features and bundled applications were not tested. There was too much to test in one day. I have not tested the browser plugin(s) yet. I've been having issues with the flash plugin crashing Firefox under Wine.  I may retry with another one I've tested on libMTP, which should be plug and play. I only tested one media player device, which didn't work. However I was having trouble connecting it by MTP in Linux as well. I did not test too many of the codec plugins. I have heard that some do need the Microsoft codecs to function. There are occasional crashes. Since it is only a multimedia player, this isn't too big a deal. Setting the system-wide settings on it's internal flash plugin results in an error of "you do not have flash plugin installed" when it links to Adobe's page. This is likely a bug on the part of Adobe, and possibly affects the program under Windows. The first load results in a crash, followed by the program loading properly. I browsed some of the other videos and other things on the realnetworks site, it seems to function OK. I tested playing a CD in digital mode, and it seemed to run fine, as does the visualization plugin. Most Functions work flawlessly. The built in flash player actually runs 99.9% flicker free on video and most other uses, however the "settings" interfaces is subject to the flicker bug. The "alternate" installer provided when I ran into problems with the standard download installer seemed to work.
